    Anna Bonitatibus: Semiramide

In the autumn Collegium 1704 will perform on a european tour in cooperation with mezzosoprano Anna Bonitatibus and her project Semiramide. Together we will be visiting three european metropoles including baden-Baden, Essen and London.
Semiramide was an antique queen, who in art is presented as goddess, virago, witch, warrior or seductress. She was an inspiration to work of many compositors throughout the decades but only Rossini´s opera Semiramide has established itself as part of the core operatic repertoire today.
With this project (and with same name recording), Anna Bonitatibus is trying to destroy this convention and presents us works of various compositors, not only Rossini.
This recording won countless awards, from which we can mention Opera Awards 2015, Le Diamant D´OPERA, or Royal Opera House award.

    C. Monteverdi: Vesers for the Blessed Virgin

Monteverdi's Vespers for the Blessed Virgin are a revolutionary work, in which the composer combines the sublime art of vocal polyphony with the newly emerging language of opera and with instrumental virtuosity. Thanks to his originality and creative daring, we can today admire this work both as a document of the excellence of the music produced in Venice in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries and, above all, as a unique monument that blazed new trails for the development of European music at the beginning of a new era.
