How beautifully the morning star shines

Most 2 2015 415x269The program of Bachfest festival opening concert in Leipzig was also introduced to Prague audience at a concert held in the cycle Music Bridge Prague - Dresden on 13 February 2015 in the Church of St. Simon and Jude
In addition to cantatas representing the peak of creative period of J. S. Bach (Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend werden BWV 6 a Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern BWV 1), the centerpiece formed the "Lutheran" Mass in F major, BWV 233. Unusually cheerful music using a pair of horns and oboes da caccia captivates their straightforward spontaneity and communicativeness and represents less familiar face of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Listeners have the possibility to compare both these works at Easter concerts at the Rudolfinum (30 and 31 March 2015) where Bach's Mass in B minor will be performed. Collegium 1704 celebrates 10 years of its existence at this festive concert. Prague winter concerts closed on February 24 with a performance of Mozart's Great Mass in C minor at the Rudolfinum.
