The season 2020—21 will be inaugurated by one of the most famous works in the history of music, Handel’s Messiah, and this “messianic” spirit pervades the dramaturgy of the whole concert series. The unconventional programme of the Advent concert will recreate the atmosphere of Italian Baroque Christmas and we shall celebrate the arrival of the New Year with Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

St Matthew Passion on Easter in Prague and Dresden – with Topi Lehtipuu as Evangelist

Topi Lehtipuu, © Seito RistimäkiThe 2013/14 season of Baroque Opera Stars concert series was closed in Prague on 15th April by almost sold-out Easter concert.
The concert will be resprised on 19th April in Annenkirche Dresden within Music Bridge Prague – Dresden concert series.
After Johannes Passion in 2013 was Bach's great Passion for soloists, double choir and double orchestra as a continuation of the Easter concerts in Rudolfinum. This legendary composition, the historic performance of which by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in 1829 became a symbol of the renaissance of Bach’s music in the early 19th century, is generally regarded as the very greatest work of the oratorio repertoire. Returning to Prague after a year, this time in the central role as the narrator of the story of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, was the charismatic Finnish tenor Topi Lehtipuu.

On the Prague concert eve on 14th April, there was programme for the third season of the concert series in Rudolfinum announced and the subscription ticket sale for the 2014/15 season began.
