The season 2020—21 will be inaugurated by one of the most famous works in the history of music, Handel’s Messiah, and this “messianic” spirit pervades the dramaturgy of the whole concert series. The unconventional programme of the Advent concert will recreate the atmosphere of Italian Baroque Christmas and we shall celebrate the arrival of the New Year with Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

New world premiere of Vivaldi's Arsilda performed after 300 years

arsildaCollegium 1704 performed Antonio Vivaldi's opera Arsilda in a new world premiere. A compostition has waited 300 years for a next performance after its premiere. Almost forgotten opera was introduced by the orchestra within the European tour which started on the 9th of March 2017 in the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava (the Slovak Republic).

This scenic version of Arsilda is the first performance of the opera since its premiere in 1716. The seventh opera of young Antonio Vivaldi is a composition full of musical experiments, rich orchestration and a virtuosity so typical for its author.

After two performances in the Slovak National Theatre, it has been seen also at Opéra de Lille, Théâtre de la ville de LuxembourgThéâtre de Caen and Opéra Royale de Versailles
