The season 2020—21 will be inaugurated by one of the most famous works in the history of music, Handel’s Messiah, and this “messianic” spirit pervades the dramaturgy of the whole concert series. The unconventional programme of the Advent concert will recreate the atmosphere of Italian Baroque Christmas and we shall celebrate the arrival of the New Year with Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

45006602342 7e0034faab oCollegium 1704 starts the season 2018-19 by the special concert to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia and also the 10th anniversary of the concert series Music Bridge Prague - Dresden. the concert with H. I. F. Biber's Missa Salisburgensis takes place in the St Vitus Cathedral in Prague on the 22 October, the tickets are available to purchase from 20 June 2018.

Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber composed his magnificent Missa Salisburgensis in 1682 on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the founding of the Salzburg Diocese. To this day it is astounding for its sonic grandeur and diverseness and it is regarded as calling for the largest forces of any the Baroque composition. Jean-Baptiste Lully's Te Deum is a supreme example of the French “Grand Motet” genre from the era of Louis XIV, the Sun King. Both compositions represent two contrasting worlds of Baroque music. What these works have in common, however, is the sublime beauty of their unusually lavish instrumentation and the perfect compositional mastery of their creators.

TICKETS available from 20 June at TICKETS / SEASON - PRAGUE
