The Collegium 1704 Baroque Opera Stars concert series will continue on
18 March 2014 with a concert titled Il divino Boemo, featuring the music of
Josef Mysliveček and
Christoph Willibald Gluck, who both gathered their first musical experiences in Bohemia, and whose artistry was later admired all over Europe. This fact has also been underscored by the recent production of Mysliveček’s opera L'Olimpiade performed by Collegium 1704 with Václav Luks. That production has enjoyed triumphant successes on European opera stages and has been recently nominated to Opera Awards in Rediscovered Works.
The world-famous American mezzo soprano
Vivica Genaux will appear as the soloist for this concert in Dvořák Hall at Prague’s Rudolfinum. It's not Genaux' first encounter with Collegium 1704 nor Mysliveček: in 2011 they together won hearts of Strings of Autumn festival audience as can be seen on a
video documentary and pictures from the concert.
