Missa Votiva

Zelenka’s Missa Votiva is the most extensive of his approximately twenty Mass settings and, at the same time, a work shrouded in mystery. Zelenka poured extraordinary care into this fascinating composition, which was probably conceived as an expression of thanksgiving for his recovery from a serious illness, bringing together the very best of his artistry and creative daring. Zelenka’s work will be complemented in the programme by vocal “gems” by J. S. Bach.
