Celebrating the birth of Christ is an important theme in the Italian baroque music of the Advent. Especially for Neapolitan authors, the arrival of the Saviour and pastoral motifs were a source of endless inspiration. In their works, the composers often merge refined counterpoint with the influence of folk music in the Neapolitan dialect.
