Lord, hear my prayers

The language of English music, firmly rooted in the vocal polyphony of the 16th century, constitutes a world apart, full of unusual deep beauty. Alongside the famous Henry Purcell, there are also other and by no means less original representatives, including John Blow and Matthew Locke, or their predecessor Orlando Gibbons. This immensely rich epoch of English music spans from the Elizabethan Renaissance up to the beginning of the 18th century.
