Christmas Oratorio

The six separate Bach cantatas now known collectively as the Christmas Oratorio were first heard successively at the St Thomas Church in Leipzig during the Christmas holidays and worship services on the Sundays that followed in late 1734 and early 1735. Today, this joyous music has become an essential part of the Christmas season, and not only in German-speaking countries. The radiant beauty of the Christmas Oratorio has made it one of Bach's most celebrated compositions.

Concert to mark the 25th anniversary of music publisher Bärenreiter Praha.
